Alfreton Town are delighted to announce that last season’s Player’s Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year, Anton Brown, has penned a new one-year contract with the Reds.
His fully committed and consistent displays both in midfield and defence have made Anton, 24, a big favourite with Alfreton fans over the past few years.
A superbly versatile player, Anton has netted 22 goals and made over 250 appearances for the club in several different positions since he first joined the Reds in July 2006.
The 2012/2013 Blue Square Bet Premier Division campaign with be Anton’s seventh season with the club.
Meanwhile, the Reds have released central defender Greg Young from his contract by mutual consent.
The player had joined the Reds on a two-year deal on June 1, 2011, after being released by York City.
Young, 24, made 36 appearances including two from the bench during the 2011/12 campaign in which he captained the side for much of the first half of the season.
In total Greg made 42 appearances for the Reds including a loan spell of six league appearances back in the early part of the 2007/08 season.
It is understood Greg has signed for Blue Square Bet North club Gainsborough Trinity and he is wished all the very best for the future from Alfreton Town FC.
