VICTORY for AMBER ATHLETIC over opponents RIPLEY WHITE LION would seal their promotion as Alfreton Insurance Services Division Two champions, and crown an excellent season.

In a high scoring game that was played in a fantastic spirit, the visitors made the champions-elect work hard before succumbing and going down 7-4.

Matt Wilders grabbed a hat-trick, whilst their other goals were shared amongst Aaron Wood, Ian Carrington, Matt Vincent and Ash Edkins. There was special praise from Amber for the way in which Lion conducted themselves throughout a richly entertaining game; their goals coming from Matt Craig, Adam Hassall (2) including a penalty, and Tom Hawkins.

Steve Adams got a hat-trick as HOLMEWOOD MW brushed aside RAILWAY TAVERN. Sean Deakin stroked home a penalty kick and Robert Holland got the other in a 5-0 win.

The basement battle in the third division went the way of GLADIATORS whose 4-3 win saw them leapfrog opponents ALLIANCE HEALTHCARE and move off the bottom rung of the ladder.

MARLPOOL UNITED beat SEVEN STARS in a mid-table affair.

Nathan Comfrey scored from a penalty kick and Lewis Carter was also on the score sheet for AFC SOUTH NORMANTON, but they had no answer to the free-flowing football of opponents JACKSDALE MW who swept to a 10-2 victory margin that takes them to the top of Division One.

Wayne Goodall beat a defender in a race to put the ball into an unguarded net and give CORONATION CLUB the lead after a goal-less first half with DERBY ATHLETIC.

That goal looked to have earned the win but Matt Roberts knocked in a late equaliser as the home defence anticipated an off-side flag that did not materialise.

Steve Holdstock bossed the midfield but Coronation Club were indebted to substitute goalkeeper Karl Breen who pulled out a couple of excellent saves that maintained his side’s advantage until the dying embers of the game.

CRIB swept aside RAINBOW INTERNATIONAL 9-1. Liam Brown led the way with four, Adam Nicholls weighed in with a couple whilst Steve Chambers, Kyle Wadsworth and Andrew Calladine got the others to maintain Crib’s interest in the title chase.
