Ripley Rangers Under 7s 4

Ripley and Clipstone met for the fourth time this season and played out another draw, ensuring the spoils have been shared on each occasion.

Clipstone shaded the opening exchanges but Ripley contained them well. First half keeper

Aeron Broadhurst’s distribution was excellent regularly finding Thomas Rankin in

advanced wide positions. Seb Askew repelled numerous attacks with some brave and at times last-ditch defending.

Clipstone then took the lead after a strong run and composed finish.

Ciaran Gillespie then reacted quickly to a poor clearance and finished well to level things up. Gillespie then slipped Alvaro Moreno in, who lost his footing with the goal at his mercy.

Moreno surged into the box and had an effort blocked as Ripley finished the half strongly.

Clipstone were back in the lead early in the second half. Daniel Wilson made a great save before the rebound was crashed against the bar, the second rebound was headed in from close range.

Zak Annable and Thomas Harrison showed good industry in midfield as Ripley were undeterred by the score line.

Ripley were soon level again, a Gillespie corner was turned into the his own net by a defender, Gillespie then capitalised on a mistake from the Clipstone keeper to give Ripley a 3-2.

Thomas Rankin then scored the goal of the game, firing a half volley into the roof of the net from outside the area putting Ripley into a commanding 4-2 lead.

Clipstone rallied scoring twice late on as the game be game stretched.
