Blue Square Bet Premier Division
Alfreton Town v Stockport County
The Impact Arena
ALFRETON Town continue their push for Blue Square Bet Premier Division survival tonight when they entertain Stockport County at the Impact Arena.
Having edged out of the relegation places at the weekend, manager Nicky Law will be looking for the Reds to build on what was a dominant performance against AFC Telford United despite the final result being a goalless draw.
At present Nick Law’s side are fifth from the bottom of the table. A win on Tuesday night could put a four-point cushion between themselves and the clubs in the relegation zone.
The Reds boss has no fresh injury worries heading into what is another crucial league fixture although he will be without Leigh Franks who begins a three-game suspension following his sending off against Telford.
Craig Clay has also returned to Chesterfield upon the completion of his loan spell from the Reds’ npower League One neighbours.
Alfreton may have only picked up seven points from their last six games but at the Impact Arena the Reds have gained ten out of the last 18.
Jim Gannon’s Stockport County arrive in 16th place with 35 points from 36 games, four places and six points better off than Alfreton who have 29 from 34 outings.
The Hatters are the division’s draw experts with 14 of their 36 games played so far finishing level. However, they have have put a good run of form together of late and have only tasted defeat once in their last seven league games.
Victories have been achieved in both of their last two games, and without conceding a goal, with a 1-0 success over title-chasing Wrexham at Edgeley Park being followed by a 1-0 win at Darlington last Saturday.
The first game between the sides this season finished goalless in Cheshire back on December 17 in front of 2,802.
