Clay Cross Town continued a busy opening spell to the season with a 9-2 away win at DFS Welbeck Welfare that kept them on top of the table.
But they suffered their first league defeat away at Humberside team Westella Hanson 3-1 in a game that didnt kick off till 4.30pm after a three-hour stand-still on the M1 last Saturday.
Then on Bank Holiday Monday they suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat at home to local rivals Dronfield Town.
The visitors scorers were Dan Wood and John Doran while Clay Cross’s man on target was Phil Lowry who got both goals.
Clay Cross are at home this Saturday, Septmeber 1 when they entertain Thoresby Colliery with a 3pm kick off.
