Two teams in the bottom four served up a splendid afternoon’s entertainment in the absence of a first team fixture.

Graham Wells and Danny Cox were given run-outs but otherwise both teams had a most youthfullook and contrived to play attractive football.

Heanor made a vigorous start and took the lead inside three minutes. Graham Wells’s cross went begging a yard from goal, but when Liam Barber returned the ball it went in off an unfortunate defender.

Sean Pickworth splendidly saved a bending free kick from Callum Douglas at the other end and followed this by diving at the feet of Lanzel Reid.

Andreas Kokkinou just failed to turn in a super Wells corner and a Cox free-kick beat visiting custodian Marcus Woolhouse but shaved the outside of an upright.

Dinnington levelled two minutes before the break.

Substitute Josh Bull was soon in action for Heanor in the second half, heading wide with his first touch and then three times bringing Woolhouse into action to save shots.

The visitors’ keeper then saved splendidly from star man Callum Hood as he cut in from the right

Heanor regained the lead on 62 minutes when Graham Wells hit a penalty into the roof of the net. At the end, both sides and the match officials received a standing ovation for their play.
