Heanor Phoenix under 16s kept up their 100 per cent start to the Derby City Football League Division Three by earning a nailbiting 3-2 victory at Priory Celtic.
Injuries to the side meant a squad of 12 were available, which eased the pressure of team selection following last week’s outstanding performance.
Right from the start, Phoenix were up and attacking with Kieran Brownlow opening the scoring within five minutes the first half then saw Celtic pull one goal back to bring the scores even, an unfortunate mix-up in the Phoenix defence saw Celtic grab a goal to go into the lead at half time.
From the second half kick-off, the Phoenix never let their heads go down and made their defence solid. The continued pressure paid off when Kieran Brownlow bagged the equaliser to make it 2-2. From then on, the Phoenix piled on the pressure and their continuous commitment led to Kieran Brownlow scoring his first hat-trick for club two minutes from the final whistle. Phoenix held out for their hard earned three points.
