Dolan is four-goal star of the show

GENEROUS BRITON took an early lead through David Higginbottom, but after that it was SEVEN STARS’ Liam Dolan that stole the show in the Division Three encounter.

After a shot from Nathan Ball had struck the post and dropped down on to the goal line, Dolan opened his account with a simple tap in.

His second gave his side the interval lead; then completing the hat-trick from a free kick as the second period got underway.

The home team was virtually camped in their opponents’ half as they launched only a couple of sorties upfield and Dolan helped himself to a fourth goal before being joined on the score sheet by Ibrahim Ashonsh.

To add to the visitors’ woes they conceded an own goal that completed the 6-1 scoreline.

Second played third in the same division’s big game, and it was AMBER ATHLETIC who recorded a surprisingly comfortable 8-2 win over rivals HEANOR COLLIERS.

Scoring machine Paul King added another hat-trick to his impressive season’s haul, Craig Buxton got two and Shaun Meynell, Matt Blakemore and Steve Burn the others. Reece Wigley and Andy Merrin goals were all their opponents could muster in reply.

In a good, open game played in blustery conditions DEVONSHIRE ARMS went down 5-1 to GALLOWS INN.

ALLIANCE HEALTHCARE meanwhile disposed of HILCOTE MW 3-0; their goals coming from Danny Harris, Andy Draper and Andy Hodgkinson.

Two in-form sides were thrown together in Division Two, but it was MARLPOOL WHITE LION who strolled to victory over CODNOR MINERS ARMS.

James Boxall, Cory Bowler, Ashley Draper and James Holmes shared the goals for Lion, whilst Lewis Gough was on the mark for the visitors.

DERBY ATHLETIC beat MARLPOOL UNITED 4-1.

In the top division, CRIB BAR found stubborn opposition in the shape of RAILWAY (Alfreton) who belied their league position and led the title favourites 2-1 at the break thanks to a Ben Bacon strike and a thunderous free kick converted by Danny Adams.

Goals from Kyle Wadsworth and Tommy Leighton though were enough to give Crib a share of the spoils.

They will have to fare much better if they are to secure their place in the DCFA Senior Sunday Cup semi finals when they take on Aston-on-Trent this weekend.

SOUTH WINGFIELD managed to shrug off their disappointing defeat the previous week by returning to top spot after securing a 3-0 away win against RAINBOW INTERNATIONAL. Chris Saunders, Jay Miles and Nathan Gration were the marksmen.
