Denby CC 1sts are still unbeaten after eight matches in the Derbyshire Cricket Premier League and moved into the top three on Saturday.
Their latest success came at Alvaston and Boulton by seven wickets and only Swarkestone and Sandiacre lie ahead of them at the moment.
Joe Greenhalgh’s side won the toss and asked their hosts to bat first.
Two early wickets by Will Davis, including skipper Stephen Stubbings for a duck, gave Denby a good start.
There then followed a stand of 70 before Derbyshire spinner Peter Burgoyne dismissed Chris McIlroy for 36.
Burgoyne also ran out former Derbyshire batsman Hassan Adnan for 52 and ex-New Zealand international Iain O’Brien for 19.
Davis then grabbed a third wicket before Greg Cork and Joe Greenhalgh took two apiece to make sure there was no wagging of the tail as Alvaston and Boulton were dismissed for 188 in 50 overs exactly.
Denby’s start was less than ideal as O’Brien dismissed Alexander Eyre in the first over.
But Cameron Bancroft continued his recent purple patch with another commanding innings.
This time he contributed an unbeaten 95.
He was involved in key stands of 94 with Peter Burgoyne (50) and 77 with Greg Cork (28).
Bancroft was joined for the final stages of the innings by Joe Greenhalgh as victory was achieved by seven wickets in the 43rd over.
Denby took 22 points from the game.
As for the club’s other two teams on Saturday, the 2nds drew with South Wingfield in Division Two.
They made 158-7 in reply to South Wingfield’s total of 220-5.
The 3rds were in Division 5N action against Duffield and lost by 175 runs.
Duffield made 247-7 and then bowled Denby out for 72.
