DENBY Cricket Club continues preparations for the new season with a series of fixtures over the weekend.
On Saturday the club is playing Staveley Welfare and is to arrange a further home fixture while on Sunday Premier Division Rolls-Royce CC visit the Copper yard for a friendly game.
Also on Sunday, the club will begin their Mansfield & District League campaign with a visit to Teversal and the club is hosting the Derbyshire Disabled team who entertain Shropshire in a 1pm start.
The club is also busy off the pitch and are in the process of a series of facility improvements including an extension to the changing rooms, a new umpire’s room & improved facilities for scorers.
The club had a busy weekend of activity taking part in the well established NatWest CricketForce weekend and work is likely to be continued up to the commencement of the season.
The club is also looking to expand its activity on the field as well and there are new opportunities for players young & old to get involved.
In particular the club is looking to attract youngsters aged 9 to 11 to join the clubs kwik cricket and under-11 hard-ball teams who have a full training & playing programme.
The club has recently had great success getting youngsters through to the County and District Development squads and see these age groups as an important part in the programme.
The club has also entered a team in the Derby and District under-17 league & is keen to attract players to be part of this squad.
