Wicketkeeper Gareth Cross has left Derbyshire after being informed his contract will not be extended.
Cross made 32 appearances for Derbyshire, with a top score of 54 in the NatWest T20 Blast fixture versus Nottinghamshire in June.
Academy graduate Harvey Hosein replaced Cross in the squad for the county’s final two LV= County Championship fixtures and made his first-class debut against Surrey in the current game.
Elite performance director, Graeme Welch said: “Gareth stepped in at a difficult time for the club and has been a regular in all formats this season.
“He’s fitted in to the team really well and we wish him all the very best for the future.
“We must now look towards the future and this is a perfect opportunity to give Harvey Hosein, who is showing real potential, a chance.”
