Council’s boost to cricket league

Alfreton’s town mayor, Cllr John Walker, has presented a cheque to the Notts and Derby Border Youth League on behalf of the town council.

Cllr Walker is shown presenting a cheque for £950 to Brian Cox, chairman of The Notts and Derby Border Youth League. Looking on are young cricketers from Alfreton Cricket Club and Morton Cricket Club, who had played a match in Alfreton Park in the league.

Cllr Walker said: “The Town Council is keen to support all types sport in the town.

“I am especially delighted to present this cheque to the Notts and Derby Border Youth League, who do a tremendous amount to promote cricket and provide facilities for many hundreds of youngsters in all parts of the area.”

The Town Council is keen to receive grant applications from all voluntary organisations which serve the town.

The offices are open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
