England Test captain Alastair Cook will be holding a batting masterclass for young cricketers from Rolleston Cricket Club at the County Ground, Derby, on Thursday, July 4.
Cook, the youngest player in Test history to pass 7,000 runs, will be coaching 20 youngsters from the East Staffordshire-based club as part of Yorkshire Bank’s community cricket campaign.
Rolleston, who compete in the First Division of the Derbyshire County League, have been selected by Yorkshire Bank from hundreds of clubs across the country to participate in the unique coaching session with the England Ashes captain.
The 28-year-old opener will lead batting, fielding and bowling exercises in the Gateway Centre Cricket Hall, before participating in a question and answer session with the youngsters.
Director of partnerships Ryan Duckett said: “We are delighted to have Alastair here at the County Ground, especially so close to the eagerly-awaited Investec Ashes series.
“The coaching session will give local children a great opportunity to enhance Cricket Derbyshire’s work with our community clubs and help young players develop their skills with tips from one of England’s greatest players.”
The club is offering five lucky Derbyshire Cricket club members, accompanied by a guest, the unique opportunity to meet the current England Test captain and witness the coaching session live.
Members can register their interest by calling 01332 388106 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org by 4pm today (Wednesday). The five lucky members will be selected at random. Please note that the selected members will be viewing the coaching session only and will not participate.
