Local people who are looking to become a little more active are being invited to take part in a social activity morning.
This will be held at the new Codnor Sports Facility, which is based on Goose Lane in Codnor tomorrow (Thursday) from 10am-11.30am.
Those attending the taster session will be invited to have a go at some unusual activities.
These are to include New Age Kurling, Boccia and Shuffleboard and then they can have a chat with some like-minded people over a hot drink and biscuit.
The morning is being organised by Amber Valley Village Games .
This group is a community-based organisation that helps to increase participation in physical activity, particularly amongst groups who may not feel that there is currently the right sort of provision to meet their needs or circumstances.
The hope is that there will be enough interest from this taster session to start a
regular activity group.
Community sports activator, Beth Turner, said: “Codnor Social Activity morning is a chance for local people to get together and have a bit of fun whilst trying something new. “The activities on offer are things that most people will not have tried before.”
She added: “They are suitable for all ages and abilities and don’t require any experience!
“We are always on the look-out for volunteers to help with activities like this. If you think you might be able to help in any way with refreshments, admin or the activities, please get in touch!”
