Ambergate CC 1sts were in action against visitors Rolls-Royce Leisure at the weekend.
Ambergate batted first and the innings got off to a great start thanks to an opening partnership of 133 between Chris Whiteley (50) and Jack McIver, who went to make 106, completing his century in fine style with five consecutive fours.
The Ambergate innings closed at 215-2 off 38 overs.
Rolls-Royce Leisure’s reply was delayed by rain in the tea interval and although the Ambergate bowlers made steady inroads into the visitors’ batting, they were unable to claim the vital wicket of Saiprasad Kamuni, who followed his unbeaten 152 the previous week, with another solid unbeaten 61.
As the playing conditions deteriorated, the visitors were not able to complete their final seven overs and the match was abandoned with Rolls Royce on 129-4 off 31 overs.
