After the 54-point deduction imposed by the league at the start of the season, Butterley Utd have finally been relegated from Division 7N.

Without the point deduction, the team would have been sitting fourth in the table, but the club is in a strong position to rebuild next season in Division 8N.

Ashover had received a point deduction themselves, and now sit third bottom. After winning the toss, they decided to put Butterley in to bat.

Nathan Parkin took his season run tally to 896, with a typically quick hit 41, while Lounds and S. Parkin both had a knock of 26.

Whilst the tally was gradually nudged along, a target of 159 all out from 38.5 overs was set. The pick of the Ashover bowlers was Rhodes, with 4 for 31 from 5 overs.

Butterley soon had Ashover on the ropes, although Nutt hit 33 and Flint finished on 36 not out. The Ashover batsmen were no match for Gee, who was in fine form, eventually finishing with 5-39 from 8.4 overs, while C. Barber also took 3 -22 from 14 overs. As Ashover got within 12 runs, in stepped Gee, and finished the game off with a fantastic hat-trick!

While relegation was confirmed a week ago, it was nice to finish the season off with a win, and sets everything up nicely for next year.

The club would like to say many thanks to Derbyshire County Council for their match ball sponsorship this season.
