Ambergate edge to home success

AMBERGATE 2nds completed a narrow two-wicket win over hosts Ashover on Saturday in Division 5N of the Derbyshire County League.

Batting first, Ashover made 176-8 from their 46 overs but Ambergate eventually got home for the loss of eight wickets. They ended on 178-8, despite the best efforts of Ashover’s Roger Bolstridge, who recorded the fine figures of 5-40m and took 22 points from the game, to Ashover’s eight.

Elsewhere, Ambergate 1sts were bowled out for 147 in their Division Two clash with Tutbury, for whom Sam Wesson took four wickets and Rob Ellerington three. Tutbury then got home for the loss of seven wickets.

Finally, Ashover 2nds took on Belper Meadows in Division 7N and bowled them out for 135 to claim 27 points from a 27-run win. They had earlier been dismissed for 162.
