Alfreton CC 1sts completed their second win of the Derbyshire Premier League season on Saturday but ultimately it wasn’t enough to see them avoid relegation.
They were up against Dunstall, who won the toss and asked their visitors to bat first.
Alfreton lost Anthony Mosca almost straight away but there then followed a good second stand of 104 between Mark Stokes and Ryan Bramwell.
When Bramwell departed for 60, an innings that included ten fours, Stokes then teamed up with John Aspinall.
They put on another 58 runs before Aspinall was out for 38.
Stokes was eventually fifth man out for a very patient 54 but after that the innings rather fell away, with only Jonathon Clarke (13) getting into double figures.
Alfreton were eventually bowled out for 216 in 49.3 overs. Martin Clewley and Sam Eaton took three wickets each for Dunstall.
Alfreton’s bowlers then combined to good effect to bowl out their hosts for 208.
Derbyshire’s Scott Elstone top scored with 60 while Ben Slater took 4-48 for Alfreton and Anthony Mosca 3-22.
There was better news for Alfreton 2nds, who finished second in Division 5N of the Derbyshire County Cricket League and secured promotion. They won ten, drew ten and lost only two of their 22 games.
