Officers had to put out a fire at the back of a war memorial in a Derbyshire park.

The New Mills and Hayfield Safer Neighbourhood Team found the blaze on High Lea Park, New Mills, at around 9.30pm on Friday, January 15.

The team used their Twitter account to share an image of the fire.

It said: “Found this Friday night @HighLeaPark, wasn’t impressed with group of youths with it. Action being taken.”

A police spokesman said no damage was done to the memorial.
