Upset over air quality request

Have your say

As borough councillor for Somercotes, I was disappointed that having asked for an air quality assessment at the full council meeting on June 29, that it was rejected by the Tory-controlled council.

The reason why I asked was because there are high levels of cancer, lung and heart disease in the Somercotes area.

Information on this is taken from Health Profile Reports produced annually by the department of health and the impact, on the incinerator application at Pyebridge. What really disappointed me was that the cabinet member responsible Cllr Short, had a prepared response before listening to the debate.

May I express my disappointment on this outcome, which shows the Tory-controlled council cares little about the health of the the residents of Pyebridge and Somercotes.,

Cllr J McCabe.
