Youngsters get crime-fighting tips

Youngsters in Somercotes were given crime-fighting tips by police officers.

The Safer Neighbourhood team attended Somerlea Park Junior School where pupils from Years 5 and 6 were taught how to use the 999 emergency number correctly and how to provide accurate descriptions to the police to create a wanted poster.

The day was part of a week of events and information sessions in the Somercotes, Swanwick, Leabrooks and Ironville areas, where various agencies, including Amber Valley CVS, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and youth agencies, gave advice to children about the opportunities open to them on behalf of the Children’s Trust in Derbyshire.
