This active group of youngsters from primary schools across the area are aiming to boost physical activity thanks to funding from Derbyshire County Council.
The year six pupils were chosen to represent sevenschools in the area as ‘sports leaders’ - which means they will take a lead role in promoting sport at lunch times after school clubs. The scheme is part of the ‘Opengate’ partnership work between Heanor Gate Science College and its cluster of feeder schools. Sports co-ordinator at Heanor gate, Mark Ozenbrook said: “We wanted to push sporting pride and increase activity.”
Each school was awarded £650 by the county council.as
