Work is underway to lay two new water pipes costing £1.3 million near Crich that will service homes and businesses in the area.

Severn Trent Water is in charge of the work which will see closures to Chadwick Nick Lane, known locally as Cowper Lane, until mid-November.

Severn Trent Water area manager Bob Taylor said: “We are investing £1.3 million to install two large water pipes. These new water pipes will allow us to reroute the water around our network. It’s paving the way for the area’s future water supply system.

“We’ve had to close Chadwick Nick Lane for the safety of the local community and our workers. Residents will always be able to access their homes and a diversion route is in place through Crich.

“We’d like to thank the local community for its patience – this work won’t take long but it will bring benefits for years to come.”
