FOOTBALLERS in Somercotes are celebrating the start a £60,000 pitch improvement project at Sleetmoor Lane.
Three new pitches will be developed while severe drainage problems affecting the five already there will be tackled and a new maintenance regime will see the pitches are kept playable in the future.
Bob Binder, club secretary at Alfreton and District Amateur Sports Club (ADASC) FC, said: “All associated with the club are extremely grateful to the Football Foundation, Derbyshire County Council, Amber Valley Borough Council and the Derbyshire County Football Association for their support in obtaining this grant.”
A grant from the Football Foundation will see ten new sides created at the club, which has teams of all ages, ranging from under-7s Mini Soccer to under-18s youth level, as well as a a nursery development group.
