There is a real celebration of the setting sun in this week’s star entries into our Life thru the Lens competition.

These picturesque scenes show Shipley Country Park and Heanor bathed in dusk - just as the sun begins to set on our Life thru the Lens competition, run in association with Belper Specsavers.

We have been asking you to send in your shots of the area to stand a chance of winning a top-of-the-range digital camera – and you have not dissapointed.

Your pictures of stunning vistas, wildlife and woodlands have been flooding in since the competition began. So much – we could not fit all of them in.

But the deadline for submitting your snaps is tomorrow, Friday, August 31, so send your entries to us by email at news@rhnews.co.uk or hard copies to Life Thru the Lens, Ripley & Heanor News, and drop them off at out Community Postbox at Save ‘n’ Save, High Street, Ripley.

Remember to include your full name, age, full address and contact phone numbers – home and mobile.

A shortlist of entries will be drawn up by a panel of judges, whose decision will be final. Make sure you say where your picture was taken too.
