VILLAGERS flocked to the old well off Main street, in Horsley Woodhouse, to see the 12th annual well blessing.

Schoolchildren from nearby Horsley Woodhouse Primary School had spent the past month preparing the traditional dressing.

All of the youngsters at the Main Street school were asked to create a pattern to go on the finished piece on the theme of the latest royal wedding. A montage was then made of the winning designs from each class.

Rev Terry Williams greeted around 50 villagers on the day for the blessing of the well. Afterwards, the pupils sang a number of songs in keeping with the royal wedding theme. Headteacher Hilary Shipley said: “A big thanks to everyone who helped us throughout.”
