Anglers who helped clear the Butterley Reservoir of an invasive pondweed have been given a volunteering award.

British Waterways is recognising groups of volunteers whose work has helped inland waterways over the past year.

Ripley and District Angling Association was given a certificate honouring its efforts in clearing Butterley Reservoir of Canadian Pondweed, which was blighting the beauty spot. East Midlands waterway manager Sean Mcginley said: “There are a great number of passionate and enthusiastic people volunteering on the waterways and they make a massive contribution.”
