OLYMPIC speed swimmer Melanie Marshall was the star attraction at an aquatic fun day at Alfreton Leisure Centre.

Melanie, who swam for Britain at the Olympics in 2004 and 2008, was joined by GB water polo captain Craig Figes and 2011 British Masters synchronised swimming champion Zoe Cooper.

About 150 children took part in four disciplines - speed swimming, water polo, synchronised swimming and rookie lifeguarding.

Pete Sharkey, general manager of the centre, said: “It was brilliant and the stars were really enthusiastic.”

Anyone interested in doing one of the four disciplines can email the leisure centre on enquiries@alfretonleisurecentre.co.uk.
