It was the week we teamed up with the police in a bid to solve a series of shoplifting crimes in the Ripley and Heanor area.

It was also the week that Derbyshire County Council announced it was to axe 1,600 jobs as it has to slash millions from its budget due to a cut in the amount it gets to spend from the Government.

It was also the week that the family of landslide victim Rachel Blackman, from Heanor, handed over a mini-bus to help children with learning difficulties. They had set up a fund in Rachel’s honour to raise money to help youngsters.
