A pair of Kirk Hallam vicars braved the blistering heat this weekend for an unusual challenge to raise cash for resurfacing the church drive.
Rev David Fergus and associate priest Rev Rachael Thompson managed to run 100 lengths each of the drive at All Saints Church – wearing their full cassock robes.
Rev Fergus, 60, said: “We had a good gang of supporters to cheer us on.”
The pair raised £360 to add to the £7,500 already collected from grants to resurface the drive –but need your help to reach the total of £8,000.
“We knew we were a bit short so we thought, ‘What daft idea could help to raise the money?’,” he said.
“So why not make a fool of ourselves running up and down in our cassocks?”
Call Rev Fergus at the vicarage on 0115 932 2042 to add your donations.
Also, add your Diamond Jubilee well-wishes at the Ladywood Road church on Wednesdays or Saturdays.
