Unpopular holiday homes plans to go before council

PLANS to transform picturesque village homes into a hotel are due to go before planners tomorrow, despite fierce opposition from villagers.

The Duke of Devonshire’s estate has applied for permission to turn the three grade II-listed buildings into plush holiday lets.

The three cottages sit next to the Devonshire Arms pub.

Yet scores of locals have objected to the move, with a petition collecting more than 61 signatures.

The application will be discussed at Peak District National Park Authority tomorrow at 10am, where it has been recommended for approval.
