FAMILIES on low incomes are set to benefit from two new affordable housing developments in Ripley and Heanor.

Work has begun to create new family homes for rent in the two towns. The homes are being provided by Futures Housing Group and include ten two-bedroom houses on Mount Street, Heanor and six three-bedroom houses on Kirk Close, Ripley.

Investment in the schemes totals £2,094,000 and includes more than £900,000 of grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency, with the remainder being met by Futures Housing Group.

The developments are scheduled for completion between October this year and January 2012.

Julie Heithus, head of development at Futures Housing Group, said: “There is a continued need for affordable housing across Amber Valley, particularly for high-quality family housing.”
