Time to get out and snapping!

We have launched the Specsavers Life Thru the Lens photographic competition – and we want you get out and about, and snapping.

There are lots of picturesque places in the Ripley, Heanor and Alfreton areas and we want to see your photographs.

The winner of our competition, which has seen us team up with optician Specsavers, is a top digital camera, worth hundreds of pounds.

You can submit as many pictures as you like. We want you to show us just what living in the area means to you – it might be a shot of a steam train arriving at the station at Midland Railway Centre, Loscoe Dam, Pennytown Ponds, Shipley Country Park – the list is long.

Nowadays we can all snap pictures – on our cameras or phones. All you have to do is send them to us with your full name, address and contact details, and you could be in the final of Life Thru the Lens. It’s free to enter so have go. The finalists will be invited to a presentation event when the winners will be announced.

You can email over your pictures to news@rhnews.co.uk, send them via Facebook to our Ripley News page or send in hard copies. Good luck!
