It’s time to dust of the camera and get out snapping as we launch our Specsavers Life Thru the Lens readers’ photos contest again.
We staged the event for the first time last year and it was a runaway success.
You certainly took the camera out and about with you and snapped us many great pictures from the Ripley and Heanor area.
And we are hoping you can rise to the challenge again and do the same this year.
We want you to take your pictures in the Ripley, Heanor and Alfreton areas and show is just what living in this beautiful part of the world means to you.
Thanks to our sponsors, Specsavers opticians of King Street, Belper, there will be a top prizes up for grabs for our winning shot, which will be chosen by a panel of judges.
Andy McBride director at Belper Specsavers said: “We’re really pleased to be sponsoring Life Thru the Lens again this year.
“The standards were excellent last time - but we know you’ll top that this time.
“We can’t wait to see your entries.”
You might head off to capture the picturesque landscape around Golden Valley - or make a moody shot of the medieval Codnor Castle ruins.
Some of the best entries in last year’s competitions were taken on a mobile phone, capturing those impossible to recreate moments - such as a golden light creeping through the trees or a bird up close as it drinks from a water bath.
Just check out reader Sue Taylor’s snap of a frog among the pond reeds in her garden at Mill Lane in Codnor, shown above here.
There are many, many more great places to snap - we know you’ll find them all for us. So get snapping.
There will be two age groups this time - up to 16s and 17 and over as there were so many great entries last time from our young Ripley and Heanor News readers.
