Many thanks to Amber Valley Housing Limited’s grounds maintenance division, Futures Greenscape, for listening to the requests of local residents in two parts of Ripley:
In Lamb Crescent, part of the jitty hedge leading to Porterhouse Road has been cut, following the prolonged requests of the vast majority of local residents. The other half will be cut from November onwards, as part of Futures Greenscape’s ‘winter works’ programme.
In Peasehill Road, a hedge fronting Amber Valley Housing – owned properties has similarly been cut, in line with local residents’ requests.
Both localities now look a lot tidier and in the case of the Lamb Crescent jitty, visibility for pedestrians has also been much improved, especially when it is dark. Local residents feel safer because of this.
Amber Valley Council should also be thanked for working with local residents and installing a litter bin in Peasehill Road alongside the hedge, since litter still builds up under the hedge bottom. We intend that both hedges are then in future cut on a regular maintenance basis.
