Thanks given for ‘super’ mums

A TRIBUTE to mothers who work tirelessly to care for their families has been displayed.

‘RoboMum’, which stands for Robotic Multi-tasking Universal Mother, was displayed in All Saints Church, in Ashover, as part of its Mothering Sunday celebrations.

The idea for the machine came from Rev Ralph Lawrence and it was built by church members Derek and Joan Marrison.

To the delight of the children in the church ‘RoboMum’ answered requests for drinks, crisps, cash for sweets and even lit a birthday cake.

Despite this, the youngsters said they much preferred their real life mums and presented them with spring flowers to say ‘thank you’ for all they do.

All the ladies in the church received floral sprays which were made by a special ‘daffodil team’.

Younger members of the church and their mothers featured prominently in the family service -led by Rev Lawrence and his wife, Susan, with Sarah Evans as organist.

The church’s youth groups also performed a song.
