A NEWLY retired warehouse worker from Alfreton has won a Trade Union ‘Oscar’.
He has received the honour in recognition for his work to improve working conditions for disabled colleagues.
Terry Hamp, who used to work at the Co-op’s distribution centre in Alfreton, was awarded Individual Organising Rep of the Year at Usdaw’s National Awards held in Manchester. Terry was praised for doubling union membership.
He was also commended at the awards ceremony for setting up a learning centre at his depot, but clinched the award for improving conditions for disabled colleagues, work which was instrumental in shaping his employers’ disability policy, said a union spokesman.
