Teen's death leaves village in shock

A community has been left in shock following the tragic death of a 14 year-old boy who was hit by a car.

Connor Revill died due to his injuries after he was in collision with a black Ford Fusion car while riding his push scooter on Monday night.

Mike Pollard, headteacher at Tibshelf School where Connor was a pupil, said the loss of one so young was absolutely tragic.

He added: “A lot of young people at the school have been left quite badly affected by this.

“There is a huge sense of loss but the local authority has supplied trained staff to support our young people at this time.

“We have sent our sympathies to the Revill family and are looking at organising a fundraising event together to pay tribute to Connor in another way.”

A motorist told how she had seen a man and a woman desperately trying to save the teenager at the scene of the collision on South Normanton’s Fordbridge Lane at about 8pm on Monday.

Emily Bott, 20, who lives off the South Normanton road, said she was on her way home when she saw the nightmare scene.

She said: “On the other side of the road there were two cars pulled up and a young lad was lying on the road and two adults were giving him CPR. There were a few children on scooters stood around too.”

Tributes have been paid to Connor on a special memorial Facebook page.

Following the incident a 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene and being unfit to drive through drink or drugs.
