AWARDS have been received by a group of Alfreton youngsters who took part in a six week activity scheme. Over summer the Alfreton Multi Agency Team, part of the Children and Younger Adults Department for Derbyshire County Council, ran a series of activities for people aged up to 25.
Keen young people took part in cake decorating, a gardening day, nature walks, scuba diving, arts and crafts, kite making, rent-a-pet and circus skills depending on their age group.
On Thursday the participants received completion certificates for taking part in the fun course at the polygon centre at Alfreton Leisure Centre. Mandy Layton, of the Multi Agency Team, said the course was designed to give local young people, some with disabilities, a chance to try out something different during the school break - adding that it was a big success.
