Without a game for a number of weeks, until last week’s winning draw at Cromford, Breadsall were the visitors to Nottingham Road to play Butterley Utd 2nds in Division 1ON.
Breadsall won the toss and put Butterley in to bat, and it proved to be a good decision when opener Jack Brooks was dispatched with the very first ball of the game.
Fellow opener Sean West soon followed in thE same over.
With Arrowsmith out LBW in the second over, Butterley found themselves on 5-3. Bob Powdrill and Dean Kenney steadied the ship, putting on a partnership of 76, as Powdrill top scored with a knock of 65, Kenney hitting 37. With differing inputs from the remaining batsmen, a reachable total of 126 was set, while giving Breadsall 66 overs to reach it.
Opener Gilbert steadily reached 36, while John Donaldson hit a respectable 39, as Breadsall made light work of the total.
There was a glimmer of hope for Butterley, when a small collapse brought a quick five wickets, but Breadsall stood firm with Hindmarch and Goshawk taking them over the line.
Dean Kenney added to his 46-wicket haul for the season with 3-66, while Brooks and Sheldon also chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Butterley now sit third in Division 10N, but promotion could still be on the cards, depending upon the team constitution for 2014. With only four points separating them from fourth-placed Stanton-by-Dale, it is still all to play for.
The club would like to say many thanks to Derbyshire County Council for their continued match ball sponsorship.
