Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Charles has launched a sensible drinking campaign urging people to stay safe during the festive period.
The ‘Safe Night Out’ campaign, which was launched last week, will be rolled out across the county to persuade people to take greater responsibility of their welfare when going out to bars and pubs this Christmas and beyond.
Mr Charles said: “Derbyshire is a safe place to live and for that we are very, very grateful.
“But where there is alcohol and nightlife there are inevitable problems.
“Excessive alcohol hinders functionality and impairs our ability to make rational and safe decisions, we are more at risk.
“The message to partygoers this Christmas is simple – eat, drink and be merry but please ensure that your night out is a memorable one - for all the right reasons.”
