A pair of childhood friends were reunited after 20 years when their babies landed the same part in a star studded ITV One drama.
Jessica Hinett of Middleton Avenue, Riddings and school pal Rachael Young of West Hallam were both asked whether their adorable tots Daisy and Lara would be able to do some ‘extras’ work on TV by a mutual friend at the Ripley Academy of Drama.
And in a bizarre twist both children were picked to play the part of Ashley Jensen’s baby daughter in new series Love and Marriage - due to hit screens on Wednesday, June 5.
Producers felt Daisy and Lara looked similar and could jointly fill the roll- not knowing their parents were once good friends at Ripley Junior School together.
Art teacher Jessica, 30, said: “It was just coincidence, but we’ve become good friends again - and our babies will always be linked through this!”
Jessica said her, husband Nick and baby Daisy were treated like stars on set during filming in Coventry between January and March.
She said: “I didn’t know Daisy and Lara were playing such an important character. We had our own trailer with our names on it - and a chauffeur driven car. I thought it was an amazing experience. What a thing to tell the children they were involved in when they grow older.”
Love and Marriage is set to run every Wednesday, from 9pm, for six weeks and sees Gavin and Stacey stars Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb heading up the cast of household names. It will mark Daisy’s third outing on television, having previously appeared on Doctors and period drama Father Brown.
