CHILDREN from Heanor have been taking part in Indian week – and learning all about food from the country.
Pupils at Heanor Langley Infants School’s Barn Owls’ Class wanted to prepare food for their parents, said class teacher Zita Keats.
They were taken to the Spice Inn, in Heanor, to learn first-hand about Indian cuisine.
Ms Keats said: “The staff were extremely accommodating and provided the children with a wide selection of dishes. The children took away lots of ideas with them. They then arranged the class into a restaurant and set about creating menus and dishes. They each had their jobs, from creche leaders, drinks servers and waitresses.”
They staged the event at the Lacey Fields Road school, which went down a treat with parents.
