EYE TREATMENT at Ripley hospital just received a major boost in the form of a focimeter donated by a generous League of Friends member.
Sally Balls, from Buckland Hollow pictured far right celebrated her 50th birthday by asking friends and family to give gifts in the form of cash donations to Ripley’s League of Friends.
The £1,600 raised has paid for a new focimeter to be used in the opthalmology department, which can to test the lens on a pair of spectacles to see whether they are right for the patient.
The presentation to hospital staff here also marked the very last for long running League of Friends chairman, Geoff Bonsall, who has now retired his post to move closer to family in Cornwall.
Geoff, 72, from Langley Mill, said: “I think it’s been nearly 50 years of hard work with the league and I shall miss it greatly.”
