South Normanton Athletic earned a 3-2 Central Midlands League Black Dragon Division South win on Saturday at home to Blidworth Welfare.
Blidworth surprised South Normanton with a goal on seven minutes from Kai Smith but took until the 33rd minute before Ben Greenhalge hit a strike from 14 yards to level. Greenhalge, back from injury, looked as good as ever and all were happy to see him back.
His strike partner Shane Newton netted from a Sam Carter free kick in his own half, at the stroke of half-time to make it 2-1 at the break.
Kai Smith hit the sweetest low and hard strike from 20 yards to level the scores as the Shiners started the second half slowly.
The possession was all with Normanton and just when you thought Blidworth had earnd a draw, Sam Keenan, Normanton’s left back, won the game with a brilliant run down the left wing.
He cut inside and with a cross/shot he scored the winner on 85 minutes.
Next up is a tough assignment, away against Mickleover RBL.
