Have your say

DO YOU look at pictures in The News and think you could take something better? Well now is your chance to prove it in our new Specsavers Life Thru The Lens competition.

We’ve teamed up with optician Specsavers to find the best amateur photographers in the Ripley and Heanor area, with the winner receiving the latest digital SLR camera.

Anyone can enter the competition – you don’t have to have a top of the range camera or brand new kit, just an eye for a great shot – you could even take them on your phone.

We want to see pictures which get to the heart of what the area is all about, in your opinion. We want you to show us not only how interesting the towns are, but also a little something extra about the spirit of the places.

It could be the beauty of Heanor’s Memorial Park or Ripley’s Crossley Park, or the stunning scene as a steam train passes by at Butterley.

You may decide you want to take pictures depicting the towns’ industrial heritage or the countryside surrounding the area – it’s up to you.

With the latest camera up for grabs, winning this competition could be a dream come true for any amateur snapper wanting to become that little bit more proficient at their art. Whatever you choose as your inspiration, make sure you get your entry in by Friday, July 27.

We will be aiming to stage an awards event, when the finalists will be invited along and the winners announced in august. We will be printing some of the entries as we go so get snapping.
