Heanor school pupils celebrated the official unveiling of the town’s Wings and Wheels Sculpture on Monday.
The £20,000 work, commissioned by Amber Valley Borough Council with the aid of private sector funding, was designed by Rachel Carter and installed on Derby Road in May. This week, the Derbyshire sculptor was on hand to officially unveil her work, inspired by the former I&R Morley knitwear factory which once stood at the site. Cabinet member for quality of place Cllr Stephen Hayes, said the sculpture signifies ‘the future regeneration of the town.’
