Scouts chill out!

freezing conditions did not deter more than 70 Scouts and their leaders from Ripley and Heanor from camping out at the weekend.

Leader Colin Newton said: “Scouts from the Swanwick, Ripley, Codnor and Langley Mill areas endured the coldest temperatures of the year so far and kept themselves warm by playing energetic games, eating plenty of hot food and joining in with a traditional sing-song around a blazing campfire.”

Everybody was presented with the ‘Chilly Challenge’ award, for camping out during January. Seven Scouts and one leader were also presented with the Dragon Award for camping out for at least one night every month of the year.
