School swim for new pool

A SPONSORED swim for Alfreton Park Community Special School has raised more than £800.

Staff, students and friends swam at total of 1,484 lengths at Alfreton Leisure Centre, which is further than the English Channel.

All the money raised goes to the school’s Raise the Roof campaign which aims to raise £200,000 for a new swimming pool building. The fundraising effort was boosted by 22 staff from the leisure centre who swam 1,452 lengths and two friends of the school who swam 26 lengths in Derby.

Assistant headteacher Vanessa Fessey said: “It was a great event and congratulations and thanks to everyone who took part. The staff at Alfreton Leisure Centre were brilliant and they helped to make the event such a great success.”
