School celebrates Jubilee with party

Pupils at Codnor Primary School are preparing for this year’s Jubilee celebrations by organising a street party.

The party, to celebrate the Queen’s 60 year reign, is to be held at the school on Friday June 1 from 1:30pm. Staff and pupils will dress in the patriotic red, white and blue colours to really get into the festivities.

The school will also be providing gold crowns for the children, flags and bunting. There will even be life-size cardboard cut-outs of the royal family and royal family face masks.

Local people from the community and the Methodist church will be invited and may well be able to regale tales of when they saw the Queen crowned. There will be many activities and children will also be able to play games and listen to music from the time of the coronation.
